Module 3: Using Art Pad, we were to sketch a lesson that we do that integrates technology. This a lesson I use often when teaching students how to create a poster online through Glogster (EDU). Instead of creating a static posterboard where most times we find pictures online, print the pictures off, then glue the pictures on the posterboard along with making title pages and passages to glue onto the posterboard, I am teaching the students to do everything online and create an animated, interactive digital poster that can be accessed anywhere. Not only is the information accessible anywhere, any time, but the students are doing everything all in one place so their computer time is much more efficient. I have used Glogster from 2nd grade-12th grade and my students love creating posters online as it truly reaches where they are today; digital learning. They can link to videos they created with iPods/iPads (mobile device), YouTube,
Prezi, etc. as well as cite sources directly on the poster. When presenting, the poster has graphic options and the items are clickable to make them larger on the screen. Not only are the posters interactive, but they are also animated which is "attention getting" compared to a posterboard that is static. I have found great success not only using Glogster with the students but also as a
teacher, finding posters that align with my curriculum and sharing posters that others have already created to enhance my lessons.
