Module 9 - Google in the Classroom - I created a Screencast and Cheat Sheet on Google Safe Searching. Using screencasts and cheat sheets to help students learn or to reinforce learning is such an important part of my job as a "teacher trainer." Creating screencasts and cheat sheets for teachers is important, but I don't think we, the teachers, use this enough with our students and parents. Going paperless or flipping classrooms would be a great way to use screencasts and cheat sheets.
Three things I learned about using Google in the Classroom
1. I never knew there was a "comic book" choice when editing your photo in Picasa. Picasa has become so many Microsoft tools all into one tool (Moviemaker, AutoCollage, and Editor). I look forward to using Picasa again when teaching my students about editing photos, creating slideshows, and even adding those images to Google Maps.
2. I love the idea of merging Google Sketchup with Google Earth to create 3D structure to the maps. I also found it great that the pictures were already included on the map, but was curious if most content is from Wikipedia or if other sites are also referenced?
3. I learned about the "advanced search" option in Google Scholar. I had never used that arrow before and just immediately searched in the past. I do agree that a con is the amount of articles that I find that are not full length. I like the fact that there is a "Scholar Library" to save your research also rather than constantly going through Favorites.
